This weekend on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 May, Cretan Winemakers Network (Wines of Crete) opens the doors of wineries in Crete to lovers of wine.

Guests will experience all the local varieties and flavors that has to offer each winery and you can take a tour at the vineyards and follow the wine production process.

The history of winemaking on the island counts 4000 years. Minoan wines were famous throughout the Mediterranean. Indeed at the archaeological site Vathipetro has found the oldest wine press in the world, evidence linking the island to the viticulture and winemaking.

The routes that you can take are 8, relative easy, and will tour you the beautiful hinterland of Crete.
